"Keep yourself open to different opportunities, people and ways of life. Always be willing to learn. Be cognizant of where you lack and where your weaknesses are and be motivated to fill them. Be likable and make sure when people are around you that you are genuinely interested in their story and intellect."

Nalisha Henry is able to check off one of her long time goals on what has now become a rather lengthy list of notable achievements. The former Fund Development Manager for Girl Scouts of America is now the Partner Relations Manager at United Way. The United Way is the “mecca of non-profits,” according to Henry who is honored to have secured the position. In the most genuine manner of speech, Henry attributes most of her professional success to the pursuit of her personal passions. “I always knew I wanted to do community engagement and community development,” says Henry. “I knew that in my sophomore or junior year in college. I have always wanted to create more opportunities for those that would not normally have them.” A native of Greenville, SC, Henry has committed her work to improving the communities in her home town and further helping and developing the people within them. Her personal and professional journey has reached far beyond the communities to other young professionals seeking to make a similar impact.

Henry comes equipped with a bachelor of psychology and a master of public administration degree from Furman University and Clemson University respectively. She likes to travel around the globe and exercises religiously to break up the long hours she devotes to her profession. Spending time with family, friends, and telling her self it is “okay” to have a lazy day is how she deflates before the stress builds.
