Charlene Evans, introduced to the poetry circuit in 2001 and affectionately named, “Chiccy Baritone” (Pronounced “chick-y”) has used her deep melodic voice to speak LIFE through Poetry, Public Speaking, Workshops and Conferences nationally and internationally.

Born and raised in Columbia, SC, Charlene Evans, upon receiving her degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from South Carolina State University, moved to Greenville, SC in 2001 where she worked professionally in various fields that include: Engineering, Project Controls and Product Development. While still working professionally, in 2007, Chiccy Baritone desired to give back to local nonprofits through her gift of poetry so she created a poetry showcase called, “R U Skooled? From A Woman’s Perspective Poetically,” raising money through sponsorship and community giving. The night of the show, she presents the donations to that nonprofit on stage after various performances from local and national acclaimed female Poets.

While R U Skooled? From A Woman’s Perspective Poetically was still going on, in 2012, Chiccy Baritone launched Breakfast For Champions Women Empowering Women Sessions, which taught women the importance of networking and igniting their God given purpose. These sessions ranged over a 3-month period for 5 years and covered various topics with expertise from local and national speakers, personal development exercises and nontraditional networking dialogue among women who ranged between the average ages of 30 to 50. These sessions produced new business ideas, business owners, authors, friendships, mentors and so much more but most importantly various tools and resources needed to move forward in destiny.

December 2017, Chiccy Baritone relocated to Atlanta, GA by FAITH after living in Greenville, SC for 16 years. Launching her new business, Chiccy Baritone Unlimited, LLC, she is excited about being a contributor to the endless opportunities in the city to use her VOICE for change. Since relocating, she has been featured in VoyageATL Magazine, joined Toastmasters District 14 Midtown Club called, “The Stammering Churchills,” where she is the Vice President of Public Relations and released her first book called, “Healing On The Other Side” June 2019.

Chiccy Baritone exercises both her left and right brain deeply balancing her love for the arts and technology. She believes that being a Professional and a Poet has fed each other “on Purpose,” cultivating the desire for social change and empowerment, which she has continued to leverage in the community and the workplace. Loving God and people inspires her everyday!
